SCHOLARS PROGRAM APPLICATION PROCESS
Students interested in applying to the Von Steuben Scholars Program must have a minimum percentile of 60 in both reading and math AND minimum 7th grade GPA of 3.0 in order to be eligible. Applicants must then complete a two-step process:
(1) Complete the CPS Non-selective HS Application online at go.cps.edu. Make sure to select Von Steuben Scholars as one of your choices. The higher you rank Scholars, the more likely you will be offered a spot as the ranking system is how selection is ultimately determined. We recommend you also apply to the Magnet College Prep Program to increase your chances.
(2) Submit the Von Steuben Scholars Program supplemental materials, including the following:
These materials can be found online starting October 1, 2019--see attachments on this page. Submissions must be made via Von Steuben's online portal (in addition to selecting and ranking Von Steuben on the go.cps.edu site):

Step by step Instructions on how to submit your supplementary materials can be found in the document titled Essay & Teacher Recommendation Submission Instructions below.
Please note: Applications that do not include the recommendation survey form and essay will not be considered for admission to the Scholars Program.
· Applications submitted after December 6, 2019 will not be considered for admission.
If you have questions about the status of your application, you may check with Ms. Carla Escobar @email@example.com.
Qualified applicants (those who score high enough on the essay and recommendation) will be placed in the Scholars lottery. If students do not qualify for the Scholars Program and/or if students are not selected in the Scholars lottery, you should also consider selecting and ranking the Von Steuben Magnet College Prep Program.
Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by email by Spring of 2020. Incoming freshmen who are selected for the Scholars Program must score above the CPS 8th grade NWEA minimum requirements for honors level classes AND maintain a 3.0 GPA in their core subjects to remain in the Scholars Program. Those who score below these minimums or do not maintain their grades will be removed from the program and scheduled for classes that best match their skill level during registration.
